Researching this subject has been tricky, the main reason being that it all happened over thirty years ago. Some people are very reluctant to give out and share their information which also makes things difficult.
Thanks
Much appreciation must go to Dave Wyburn, a former owner, who has taken time to offer me praise, update some existing information and send me some valuable pictures.
A big thank you must go out to Bill Drake who spent time answering my questions and talking about his experiences relating to the film.
Peter Merchant at Solely Scooters in Rochdale kindly agreed to allow me to reproduce the pictures of his Lambretta replica.
Nicky Jones, the wife of Andy Jones emailed me to confirm that everything that forms part of the exhibit at Littledean Jail belongs to him and that he purchased the VCB160 scooter from Dave Wyburn in 2007.
Steve Hanlan kindly emailed and provided the following information:
I moved to West Drayton to find work, and became active in the West Middlesex Vespa Club with Ron and Bill. (incidentally Bill Woodhouse was quite a force in the Scooter Racing scene)
In total, five scooters were built, all based on Rally 200's with GS panels. One of them was an old one of mine, which became one of the non-runners.
I remember Ron & Bill Woodhouse scouring the London area for spares (especially lights and mirrors) to be able to produce 5 exact copies.
Scootering Magazine and Classic Scooterist Scene magazine have over the years, offered small chunks of evidence and information that with a lot of detective work, I've managed to piece together and form what is here on this website.
